Shavuot at Chabad

Shavuot celebrates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Each year, we relive that powerful moment as we gather together to hear the Ten Commandments read from the Torah.

It is a holiday of Torah, Jewish unity, dairy foods, family celebration, and renewed commitment to our beautiful heritage. Whether you join us for all-night learning, the community dinner, the Ten Commandments and ice cream party, or Yizkor, you are warmly invited to celebrate with us.

Shavuot 2026 begins Thursday evening, May 21 and continues through Shabbat, May 23.

About Shavuot

Shavuot marks the day the Jewish people received the Torah at Mount Sinai. It is celebrated by hearing the Ten Commandments, learning Torah, eating dairy foods, decorating with greenery, and gathering with family and community.

The custom of staying up late learning Torah reflects our love for Torah and our desire to prepare ourselves to receive it anew each year.
